Torres Gets Early Winner

Albania Barely Tested Spain in Dusseldorf

Spain secured a 1-0 victory over Albania in Dusseldorf on Wednesday, extending their 100 record in the process. Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game in the 12th minute, with Albania rarely troubling the Spain goal thereafter.

The win means Spain finish top of Group A, while Albania finish bottom. Both teams will now turn their attention to the knockout stages, with Spain facing Italy in the quarterfinals and Albania heading home.

Spain were in control from the start and deservedly took the lead when Torres tapped home from close range after good work from Dani Olmo. Albania had a few chances to equalize, but they were always second best to the Spain defense.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Spain dominating possession and Albania defending deep. Spain came close to adding to their lead on a number of occasions, but they were denied by some excellent goalkeeping from Etrit Berisha.

In the end, Spain were comfortable winners and they will be confident of going far in the tournament. Albania, meanwhile, can be proud of their efforts, but they will be disappointed to be heading home at the group stage.

The match was also notable for the absence of fans, with the game being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a strange atmosphere, but it did not detract from the quality of the game.
